Ko-So-A-Do System (Things)

これ (this, near me) / それ (that, near you) / あれ (that over there) / どれ (which). Used as standalone pronouns: これはなんですか。

Ko-So-A-Do System (Modifiers)

この/その/あの/どの + noun. These must be followed by a noun: このほんはいくらですか。(How much is this book?)

Ko-So-A-Do System (Places)

ここ (here) / そこ (there) / あそこ (over there) / どこ (where). としょかんはどこですか。= Where is the library?

Particle も (also/too)

Replaces は to mean 'also'. たけしさんはにほんじんです。みちこさんもにほんじんです。= Michiko is also Japanese.

Noun negation: じゃないです

X は Y じゃないです = X is not Y. Formal: じゃありません or ではありません. これはにくじゃないです。= This is not meat.

Sentence tag ～ね

Added to seek confirmation (right?). いいてんきですね。= Nice weather, isn't it? Use when you expect agreement.

Sentence tag ～よ

Added to convey new information or assert. このえいがはおもしろいですよ。= This movie is interesting, you know. Use sparingly to avoid sounding pushy.

ください vs. おねがいします

ください = 'please give me' (with を). おねがいします = 'please' (politer, used for requests/services). コーヒーをください。/ コーヒー、おねがいします。

は

それはにく＿＿＿＿です。(That is not meat.)

じゃない

たけしさんはにほんじんです。メアリーさん＿＿にほんじんですか。(Is Mary also Japanese?)

も

＿＿ノートはいくらですか。(How much is that notebook near you?)

その

としょかんは＿＿ですか。(Where is the library?)

どこ

This is not a Japanese book.

これはにほんごのほんじゃないです。

How much is that watch over there?

あのとけいはいくらですか。

Please give me this bag.

このかばんをください。
